Bacteriostatic Water (BAC)
10mL · Lyophilized Vial
Sterile 0.9% benzyl-alcohol-preserved water, for reconstituting lyophilized peptide powders.

HOW LONG A VIAL LASTS
A 10mL vial reconstitutes 5 to 10 peptide vials depending on draw volume.
Add 1 to 3mL of BAC water down the inside wall of the vial; gently swirl, never shake. Concentration depends on the peptide and target dose volume per draw.
FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY
Not for human consumption. Intended for laboratory and in-vitro research applications./ RESEARCH DOSSIER
Everything we know
about Bacteriostatic Water.
Direct from the research literature. Every section is sourced from peer-reviewed peptide studies and clearly labelled when effects come from animal or cell-line models.
/ 01 · WHAT WE KNOW
The background.
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water for injection containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits the growth of most common bacteria, allowing a single multi-dose vial to be safely accessed multiple times after reconstitution. Standard reconstitution solvent in research peptide protocols.
/ 02 · WHAT IT DOES FOR YOU
What researchers study it for.
Used to reconstitute lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide powders into solution for downstream lab use. Multi-dose preservation is what separates BAC from sterile saline, once reconstituted, peptide solutions stay viable at 2 to 8°C for 14 to 28 days.
RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS · published animal & cell-model studies
- ▸Universally used across peptide research as the reconstitution solvent of choice
- ▸Multi-dose viability extended vs sterile saline (which lacks preservative)
Sourced from peer-reviewed research literature. Effects described are from animal & cell-line models unless otherwise noted. For research use only.
/ 03 · HOW IT WORKS
Mechanism of action.
Biological pathways identified in the research literature for Bacteriostatic Water.
Benzyl alcohol disrupts bacterial cell membranes, bacteriostatic, not bactericidal
Allows multi-dose vial access without contamination over 14 to 28 days at 2 to 8°C
Inert to most peptide structures at standard reconstitution concentrations
